POSITION SUMMARY

Engs Commercial Finance (“ECF”) is one of the oldest and most respected commercial lenders to the Truck and Trailer, and construction and equipment industries.  Our industry-specific vendor finance programs help dealers and manufacturers sell more equipment and our customer focus helps operators grow their fleets.  While other lenders come and go, ECF has been here since 1952, consistently lending and helping our customers expand their businesses – through good times and bad.

The bankruptcy and collections paralegal will be an integral part of the legal department, supporting one lawyer and one deficiency collector.  Familiarity with bankruptcy and a working knowledge of post liquidation and recovery actions is required.  The successful applicant will have excellent organizational skills, a strong strategic mind, a strong work ethic, a willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and be results oriented but detail minded, etc.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and implement appropriate actions in bankruptcy cases, including evaluation of plan treatment, valuation, filing proof of claim forms, and recommending motions.
  • Interface with collections, asset management, upper management and others as appropriate in determining and taking the appropriate action on customer accounts.
  • Assist with replevin and collection litigation along with discovery and requests from outside lawyers.
  • Assist with monitoring and processing outside counsel legal bills and monitoring trustee payments and application to the appropriate account and contract.
  • Provide needed support to inside lawyer and deficiency collector.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, and one to three years of related working experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certificates, licenses and registrations required:  Paralegal Certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Computer skills required:  Microsoft Office.  Experience with internet research, skip tracing, Pacer and electronic court dockets would be a plus.
  • Other skills required:  Excellent organization ability and attention to detail, including, but not limited to, communication and writing abilities.
